Establishment of the Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Oncology
Since July 2020, the idea of creating a platform for exploring applications of artificial intelligence in oncology has been discussed by the major relevant institutions in Brno: Masaryk University with strong expertise in artificial intelligence and its biomedical applications, Masaryk Memorial Cancer Institute as a unique hospital specialized in oncology, both University Hospitals located in Brno (University Hospital Brno and St. Anne´s University Hospital) and DCB Actuaries and Consultants as an industry partner with focus on healthcare sector. The motivation has been to make use of the expertise in the given field and bring the research to a new level by intensifying the dialogue between the key research groups resulting in new ideas and common projects. The idea of creating such a platform has also been supported by the Brno City Municipality. In the end, a consensus has been reached to establish the platform during spring 2021.
